Notes

2019-05-13 - This entry describes an original installation of a new pipe organ.
Identified by James R. Stettner, citing information from this publication: "The Golden Years Never Ended: The History of the Parish of St. John the Evangelist Stamford, Connecticut" by Lawrence J. Bolonowski (pub. 2012).
Page 119 of the 2012 published parish history states, "Continuing the trend in improvements that was cited on Father O'Brien's silver anniversary, a new organ was added to the church in March, and dedicated by Bishop Tierney on March 16th. With the Catholic population at over 5,000, it was necessary to issue tickets to the organ recital, as the seating capacity of the church was 1,500. The following day, The Advocate gave the recital rave reviews and noted that the audience was captivated by the performance from start to finish." -Database Manager
