2019-08-13 - From Stephen Schnurr: The congregation was founded in 1960 and broke ground that year for this church, situated on 10 acres of forested land. The congregation is basically the former Fourth Church of Christ, Scientist, Marquette Road and South Harvard Avenue, Englewood, Chicago, relocated to the suburbs. Fourth Church housed 1904 Hook & Hastings opus 2048, a three-manual organ. In 1977, the congregation dedicated the pipe organ in this building. 1907 Estey opus 530, a three-manual instrument, was built for Seventh Church of Christ, Scientist, North Kenmore and West Berwyn Avenues. Estey rebuilt opus 530 in 1944. When Seventh was demolished for a new, more modest edifice, the Estey was sold to the Palos Park Church. It has been significantly altered and has an Austin console. Both Chicago churches were designed by the famous Solon S. Beman. -Database Manager
