Notes

2019-09-03 - This entry describes an original installation of a new pipe organ.
Identified by William Dunklin, citing information from this publication: "The Wurlitzer Pipe Organ, an Illustrated History" by David Junchen page 623.
The Alhambra Theatre opened in 1911. An arcticle in Wid's Film Daily for Tuesday June 8 1920 records "The Alhambra will close on July 1 for a short time to be redecorated, remodeled and repainted. New draperies will be installed and a $25,000 Hope Jones Unit organ will be installed."

The organ was a stock Style 135A, 4 ranks, Trumpet, Salicional, Vox Humana and Flute. A "piano" console with an 88 key piano and additional percussions was included. The reference to the organ costing $25,000 would seem to be theatrical hyperbole. The actual price of a stock 135A was approximately $8500, ibid. p 182.

The Alhambra was torn down at an unknown date. Fate of the organ unknown. -Database Manager
