Following Vatican II, the instrument was moved from the rear gallery into a lateral gallery overlooking the chancel. During this move, a single console was retained. In 2007, when the Franciscans decided to close and to sell their monastery, they offered, free of charge, the organ to any parish that would like to have it. In August 2007, St. Angele parish priest, Fr Jean-Pierre Couturier, appealed to his parishioners to acquire this organ which, like many others, was going to be sold outside Montreal or simply destroyed by the demolition workers. Even though the organ was offered free of charge, the parish receiving it would be responsible for the costs of dismantling, cleaning, transport and its re-installation. The first reactions to this ambitious project were reluctance and incredulity, but only after a few days, the parishioners joined in with enthusiasm and determination. The $40,000 sum, essential to complete the first project stage, was accumulated in no time and the operation took place from October 2nd to 12th, 2007. A finance committee presided by Donato Del Busso was set up to collect the necessary funds for the second stage, the re-installation. The objective was $60,000. Requiring only this amount of money for such a project is explained by the fact that almost all the labor required for the re-installation was found among the parishioners who agreed very generously to participate: engineers, welders, bricklayers, carpenters, electricians, etc. As only the supervising personnel was missing, the Karl J. Raudsepp and Associates firm was selected. The tonal structure of the instrument is the same as the one established by Casavant when the instrument was built in 1948 except that the Récit Voix céleste was replaced by a Tierce. A new organ case, more in style with the church interior, was built to receive the instrument. The blessing of the organ and its inauguration took place on June 8th, 2008.
