Notes

2020-07-10 - Identified from a Facebook Pipe Organ Garage Sale post on July 9, 2020. Further information proided by the present owner - Alex Fries of Fries Keyboard Works. The congregation sold the building and the new congregation did not want the organ. It was removed to storge by Fries Keyboard Works in June 2020 and is for sale for $7,000.00. -Jim Stettner

2020-07-11 - The organ is a conglomerate instrument of re-purposed pipes and equipment. The case work was built new for this installation. The 3-sectional facade contains 22 gold-painted pipes arranged: 8-6-8. The console is Kimball. The manual windchests appear to be Reuter pitman. The Swell 8' Voix Celeste appears to be an Estey labial Oboe and the pipes are stamped 'Oboe'. The Pedal 16' Bourdon has only 30 pipes. The Pedal 16' Lieblich Gedeckt is just 12 pipes - perhaps originally an extension of a manual rank. The chimes are Mayland, 25-notes from G20 to g 44. -Jim Stettner

2023-09-14 - Most of the organ's pipework is from a Hinners originally in St. John Lutheran Church, Lena, IL. However the organ's orginal Great 8' Dulciana was replaced with a 4' Octave (pipes of unknown origin) and as Mr. Stettner has noted, the Swell Celeste (tc) is an Estey labial oboe. I have added a poor quality photo of the organ as originally installed in Lena (long before its Reuter rebuild) and a drawing sent to Ken Greenberg of Evanston, who designed the case which Bradford Organ Company built for Good Shepherd Lutheran in Lake Villa. Bradford completed the organ's releathering and installation in April of 1991. -Ronald Damholt

NOTES
The organ is free-standing and encased at the rear of the sanctuary on the left
side (when facing forward). The 3-sectional façade contains 22 gold-painted pipes
arranged: 8-6-8.

The organ is a conglomerate instrument containing re-purposed pipes and equipment
from diverse and undocumented sources. The casework was built new. The console is
Kimball. The manual windchests appear to be Reuter. It is likely the Swell 8' Voix
Celeste is an Estey labial Oboe.

Good Shepherd Lutheran sold the edifice to another congregation in 2019, but still
worships in the building Sundays at 10:00. The organ, however, was not wanted by
the new congregation and was removed by Alex Fries of Fries Keyboard Works, LLC in
Wood Dale, IL. The instrument was advertised for sale on Craigslist and Facebook
Pipe Organ Garage Sale. If not purchased by July 15, it was to be broken-up for
parts and/or discarded.
