2020-10-20 - March 1993: National Music Museum purchased the organ for $2,500 from Haydenfeldt (owner of The Rink in Storm Lake, Iowa), saving it (especially the metal pipes) from being sold for scrap; museum staff members disassembled it and transported it back to the NMM for safe storage. The organ was assigned catalog number NMM 5492. July 13, 2011: Since the NMM could no longer continue to properly store the organ in its facilities—and with no funding or place for a restoration--the NMM Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees approved the deaccessioning of the organ at their meeting on July 13, 2011. Nov. 14, 2011: the organ was sold back to the Reuter Organ Company, Lawrence, Kansas, for the NMM’s original investment of $2,500. Removal of the organ by the Reuter company, took place on November 14, 2011.
