Notes

2020-11-26 - Although the contract date is 1923, it appears the organ was not completed until 1934. "The organ beautiful and imposing in appearance is the Bartholomay Pipe Organ which was formally dedicated on December 6, 1934. Rendering sublime enjoyment, this organ has endeared itself to the hearts of all. In 1923 the idea was suggested that a pipe organ would be a worthy contribution to the assembly life of the former girls' school. From that time on the Organ Fund Committee worked feverishly and finally secured enough funds to have an organ built and installed. The organ is a striking example of modern mechanical efficiency, containing 2386 pipes, a set of chimes, an impressive console, and thousands of miles of wiring." - West Philadelphia High School - Record Yearbook (Philadelphia, PA) - Class of 1935 Page 101 of 132 -Paul R.
