Hook & Hastings (1887)

St. Peter's Catholic Church
134 Convent Avenue
Rutland, NY

Notes

2021-04-03 - Originally built by Reuben Midmer Sr. as a sizeable two-manual organ for the Hanson Place Methodist Episcopal Church in Brooklyn, New York. This organ was replaced by a 43-register three-manual Hook & Hastings No. 1303, 1886 with the Midmer taken in trade and installed here in Rutland that year. The mechanical-action Midmer was electrified by Arthur Kohl of Rochester, New York in 1941, heavily rebuilt by Wessel & Brys ca. 1985, and connected to the new three-manual gallery console of a hybrid digital Wicks 3-rank Sanctuary organ in 1996. The new Wicks console contains addition preparations for gallery organ stops, no doubt intended to be imitation. -Scot Huntington
