2021-04-09 - (Organ was originally in Adams residence in Chicago, IL in 1905. Later moved to the Ordway home by the Aeolian Company in 1919. See separate entry for Virginia Street-Swedeborgian Church.) Builder: Aeolian Organ Co., Op. 989, circa 1905. Cost: $9,000. Moved 1919. Manuals: 2 Ranks: 13 (incl. Harp and Chimes) Action: Electro-pneumatic Notes: Maurice Auerbach and Matilda Rice Auerbach House/Lucius Pond Ordway House. Built in 1882-1883 and remodeled extensively in the 1920's; originally French Second Empire/Queen Anne/Altered Victorian in style; George Wirth, architect. This instrument's chests/pipes were originally contained in the attic of the mansion. The house was originally built (including the organ) by a different family. The Aeolian was donated to the Virginia Street Church in about 1948. The previous church instrument (by Hall Organ Co. from 1919) was retained and the Aeolian was added to it.
