Notes

2021-05-16 - The present brick church built in 1866 by famed Rochester architect Andrew Warren replaced a frame structure built in 1807. The church website states the first organ for the congregation, unidentified, was built in 1850. The church is oriented with the pulpit in the long side with the organ in a niche which protrudes from the left side of the exterior. The House had two manuals and is known only from the House opus list. In 1902 the House was either rebuilt or replaced by C.E. Morey as Op. 196, reusing the original House case. A contemporary Facebook photo of the church interior shows the niche to have been rebuilt with no evidence remaining of an organ. The congregation merged with the Presbyterian church next door in 1944, using the Congregational building, and was renamed The United Church. -Scot Huntington

2024-09-09 - "The church is of fine brick, will seat 1000 person, possesses $2,000 pipe organ and pays its pastor quarterly in advance." Dollar Weekly News, Bridgeton, New Jersey • Sat, Jan 24, 1885, Page 1 -Paul R. Marchesano
