2021-06-03 - Replaced by C.S. Haskell in 1892. Known from an article in *The Sentinel* (Carlisle, Pennsylvania) · 3 Nov 1892, Thu · Page 3. "The former organ had done duty for about 40 years and no longer met the requirement." Also the article reported that one woman was present at the Haskell dedication who also "attended the dedication of the previous organ 40 years ago." -Paul R. Marchesano
2022-01-02 - The installation of the organ was reported in the *Carlisle (PA) Herald*, April 8, 1857: New Church Organ.—A new and splendid organ, of twelve stops, from the well known manufactory of Mr. Pomplitz, of Balti- more, has been erected in the gallery of the First Presbyterian Church in Carlisle. Our musical critic happens to be absent just now, and we cannot venture to speak particularly and descriptively of such an affair as an organ but of the vast crowd who heard its performan- ces on Sunday last, we believe the universal opinion is that it combines in the highest degree sweetness and softness of tone with great power. It is a well finished instrument and presents an attractive appearance. We congratulate the congregation on the pos- session of such an auxiliary to their church music. In view of the 1857 date, the "manufactory of Mr. Pomplitz" was most likely Pomplitz & Rodewald.
