2021-07-01 - Moller organ was rebuilt and enlarged late 1970s-early 80s, by Lewis & Hitchcock. New ranks were installed to increase the size of the instrument to be a 3-manual. The Great pipes live in window boxes in front of the two chambers (divided chancel). These appear to be custom built. The workmanship is neat, throughout. The chests in the chambers appear to be all/mostly older Moller. Because old chests were re-purposed, the layout of the pipes is a bit scattered. The church is a Tudor Gothic style, long and narrow, but a low ceiling, which hinders reverberation. Tonally the instrument is very much of its time, with an emphasis on certain high pitched ranks, but not complete enough to support them tonally. In recent years a new 3 manual Holtkamp console and new solid state relay have been installed. -Steven Bartley
