Notes

2021-07-04 - According to long-time local organist, now deceased, Mrs. Mabel Rushing, this organ was brought to Chandler "from a radio station in Wichita Falls." This seems to be true, as the organ is not scaled properly for this space and doesn't make sufficient sound to be faithful to a full organ repertoire. It occupies the organ chamber to the L of the chancel, replete with ornamental, non-speaking facade pipes. An identical chamber, also with non-speaking facade pipes, is to the R of the chancel above the choir room but is empty. Evidently the architects prepared space to house a much larger organ. I played this organ most recently ca. 2010, at which time it was not used but was still in good condition an playable. I will attempt to obtain photographs of the organ and console in the next few weeks. -Rev. Dr. Van Herd
