St. Isidore Catholic Church: Sanctuary
Milwaukee, WI

Notes

2021-08-25 - Identified from online comments by Allen Herther on Facebook's Wisconsin Organ Scene on Monday, August 23, 2021. --* There was a St. Isidore in Milwaukee which closed prior to 1998. (started by immigrant Croatian celery farmers) Parish records, the statue of St. Isidore, and the remaining membership went to St. Barbara. The interior and seasonal furnishings of the church and some of the classroom furnishings were sent to a mission parish starting in Mexico that was staffed by an order, and the priest of the new mission was a child that was baptized at St. Isidore. St. Isidore did have a small 2 manual unified pipe organ that was completely enclosed, and I believe it was a Schaefer. I don't believe the organ went to Mexico, but remained in the building when it was sold. The building was a multipurpose school design, with a central future gymnasium built out the back that was used as the worship space until funding was available for a real church building to be built, which never materialized. * -Jim Stettner
