2022-04-19 - This was a major rebuild of the original 1893 organ (also rebuilt in 1930s) that was also the impetus behind a bronze dedication plaque attached to the front of the organ case and the installation of a new console in a pit in the center of the choir loft with the organist's back to congregation. The previous 1930s-era console had been located stage left with the organist facing the congregation. A church archives document references an *Elgin Courier* newspaper article from April 24, 1955, regarding the dedication concert marking "completion of the new Holmberg pipe organ in the church sanctuary...organ uses about 1,700 of the pipes from the former organ, includes 1,700 new ones imported from Germany and is completely new in console and mechanism. It has been under construction in the studios of the Holmberg Organ Company in Rockford [Illinois] and in the church sanctuary for more than a year. This organ will be the largest pipe organ in this vicinity, in both number and size of pipes. There are 34 stops, 33 ranks of pipes and a set of Deacon [sic - Deagan] tubular chimes..." -Jeffrey Neufeld
