Notes

2022-05-03 - "The new organ for St. George's church has arrived and workmen have been engaged during the week in putting it in place. It was built by Adams & Son of Providence under personal supervision of Prof. Barney of this city and is pronounced by experts one of the very best church organs Newport. It has twenty-one stops, besides mechanical registers, a full manual of keys and a full set of pedals. It is encased in ash, to correspond to the church finish, and, with ornamental pipes, will prove a handsome article of furniture. This organ will be first opened for public appreciation on Thursday evening next, when a grand concert given for the benefit of the organ." -- *Newport Mercury*, 4 June 1887 -Paul R. Marchesano
