Notes

2022-05-08 - According to a history of the church, the instrument was placed in the rear gallery and "was considered a very fine instrument in those days." It cost $500 and was lost in a fire that destroyed the church in 1868. It is possible that the instrument was built either by Hagar & Vogt, or Thomas White, active organ builders in nearby Hamilton at the time. -Andrew Henderson

2023-01-30 - According to the *Semi-Weekly Spectator* (Hamilton): "We understand our townsmen, Messrs. White and Hagar, have just erected an organ in St. John's Church, Ancaster, with the tone and power of which the congregation are very much pleased. The price was about £100. -Andrew Henderson
