2022-12-29 - The Teatro del Lago, opened in 1927, as part of the Spanish Court retail complex along Sheridan Road in what was then known as “No Man’s Land”, a triangular area between the North Shore suburbs of Wilmette and Kenilworth. (The area was finally annexed by Wilmette after much debate in 1942). Both the theater and surrounding structures of the Spanish Court were built in Spanish Colonial style, including red tile roofs and buff stucco facades. The Teatro was closed in September 1965 and was demolished in early 1966. A Jewel Food Store built on part of the site. The shopping center was remodeled and renamed the Plaza del Lago in 1967. -- Cinema Treasures website -Paul R. Marchesano
2022-12-29 - This 2 manual, 10 rank Kimball was purchased and removed by Paul McGilvery of Berwyn. Paul traded this 2-10 Kimball to Lee Conrad for his 3 manual-30 rank organ made of lots of stuff. The basis of Lee's organ was the 3-17 Wurlitzer from the Tivoli Theatre in Chicago. It was augmented with the remains of the Marr & Colton originally installed in the Hinsdale Theatre. I helped install this Kimball in Lee Conrad's garage/studio in 1964. When Lee was ready to moved on...he sold it to Randy Charles in Ohio. I have no idea where it went from there but, as I recall...Randy was quite old when he bought the Teatro Kimball. Perhaps Clark [Wilson] may know where it went from there?? -- Terry Kleven via Facebook. I remember the name Ralph Charles from Columbus, but not Randy. -- Clark Wilson via Facebook You may be correct....I may have misunderstood Lee Conrad from 50+++ years ago. Time can take its toll!! -- Terry Kleven via Facebook. [above discussion, 29 December 2022] -Paul R. Marchesano
