Notes

2022-08-20 - Organ was rather undistinguished Organcraft instrument from 1953. The building was of great significance, as it was the 1st Croatian Church in the USA, one of two in PIttsburgh. Building was razed in 2013, fate of the organ is unknown. A demolition picture shows console still in place during demolition. Widening of Rte 28 was a reason given for the eventual closing and demolition. This building is NOT TO BE CONFUSED with St. Nicholas Croatian Church in Millvale (only a mile down Rte 28) which still stands as of 2022 and is home to the famed murals by Mala Jaska. -Andrew Scanlon

2022-08-26 - Local organist, JR Daniels, a member of OHS, says this: Saint Nicholas on route 28th (now demolished) organ was a Hook & Hastings tracker that came from the original Rodef Shalom Temple downtown. That was electrified in the late 1950s. When the church was razed the organ was broken up for parts. -Andrew Scanlon
