2023-01-02 - This entry describes the original installation of a 5-rank organ by Reuben Midmer & Son, 1887. The Stamford church closed in 1978 and the organ was sold to Edgar Boadway, Claremont, N.H. through the Organ Clearing House. The organ was refurbished there without change by Boadway and Scot Huntington, then an organbuilding apprentice in Vermont. The organ was installed "on loan" to the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Claremont in 1978 where it remained until that church closed in 1985. The organ was subsequently sold to a Lutheran church in Boyleston, Mass. where it was altered (1985-1999), St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Turners Falls, Mass. (1999-2018), and most recently, it has been installed in St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Claremont, N.H. where it was installed without further alteration by church volunteers (2018-present). The original decorated facade was repainted gold while the organ was in Stamford, and the organ was otherwise unchanged during its nearly a century of use there. -Scot Huntington
