2023-02-04 - As reported in The Gazette (Montreal, April 1, 1875) a new organ for St. James Church by Messrs. Warren of Montreal was to be opened on Sunday, April 4. It is unknown whether any pipework was reused in the church's subsequent Casavant Organ, Op. 729 (1918). -Andrew Henderson
2023-02-14 - According to The Kingston British Whig, April 6, 1875, the instrument cost $1,600 and replaced a Townsend Organ that had been in place for approximately 18 years and sent to Montreal. The dimensions of the black gothic Walnut case were 10 feet wide, 7 feet deep and 13 feet high, with the center facade pipes painted in gold and sides in silver. -Andrew Henderson
