Notes

2023-02-28 - From the *Times* (Owen Sound, March 16, 1882): "Our Methodist friends having purchased from S. R. Warren & Son, Organ Builders, of Toronto, a large Pipe Organ, they are to have it formally opened by an Organ Recital, on Friday evening (17th inst.), by Prof. E. R. Doward, Organist of St. James Cathedral, Toronto. The following is a description of the organ: there are two manuals of 4 1/2 octaves each, and two octaves of pedals. There are 23 stops, as follows ... There is a total of 954 pipes in the organ. The case is strictly in unison with the building, having 17 pipes of the Open Diapason in the front. On the whole, a more suitable instrument could not have been selected by the church, as it adds very much to the finish of the auditorium, and will, if skillfully handled, add much to the service of song in the House of the Lord." -Andrew Henderson
