2023-05-01 - From the *Saskatoon Daily Star* (August 10, 1912): "The work of installing the new pipe organ in the First Baptist Church is well under way and it is expected that the opening recital will be held on Thursday night, of next week. Mr. A. Roy Williams, of Yarmouth, NS, who is at present the guest of Mr. & Mrs. William Schaffner, will give the recital. Mr. W. R. Shute, of Dartmouth, NS, is installing the organ." Although not named in the newspaper sources of the time, it is presumed that the builder of the instrument was Karn-Morris, as W. R. Shute was engaged to install other instruments by this firm outside of Ontario in the early 1910s. From the *Saskatoon Daily Star* (September 6, 1912): "The installation of the second pipe organ in the city, that at the First Baptist Church, was celebrated last night by an opening recital." The organ is presumed to have been lost in the fire that destroyed the church in 1943. -Andrew Henderson
