2008-10-22 - Updated through information posted to PIPORG-L October 21, 2008: -- A most satisfying Felgemaker organ from 1898 remains in Duluth, Minnesota's former Sacred Heart Cathedral, now the non-profit Sacred Heart Music Center. ... Its 22 stops enhance the elegant old space with a rich, characterful splendor. The 8' & 4' principals alone are a vibrant ensemble, and the full principal pleno is quite grand and very brilliant. The GT trumpet is brassy and fun, the Melodia as compelling as any C-C harmonic flute (though its own 4' F-H is marvelous), the Dulciana is full-bodied yet gentle (the Aeolina is the whisper-voice). Every stop has personality, and it all works together." "This is a tracker-pneumatic action, lovingly refurbished in 1960 by Norbert Berschdorf, who did some additional repairs and cleaning in 1979. In recent years, the organ has been maintained by Daniel Jaeckel. This organ will hold its own (in character and quality of sound) with any, old or new." -Database Manager
