2023-06-16 - A history reveals: "First mention of an organ for the sanctuary appears as a financial notation: '1859-note for organ $164.86,' " but that was surely only a partial payment, and "in 1869 a boy was paid $ 26.00 to 'blow the organ.' " The maker of the instrument is not identified, but it might have been either Giles Beach or Alvinz a Andrews, both of whom later had organs in the city. It may also have been second-hand. Installed in the center of the rear gallery, the organ remained until 1905. That year, Augustus B . Felgemaker (1836-1905) installed a new organ down front, taking the 1859 organ in trade, and in turn selling it to SS. Peter & Paul Church, R .C. , Depew, New York. Nothing more is known of it. -- *2006 OHS Organ Atlas* -Paul R. Marchesano
