2023-08-15 - This entry represents the installation of a new organ. Identified from the Casavant opus list and archives. The Positiv division and four Pedal stops were prepared for; no console, blower or motor were to be furnished by Casavant. The original size was 3-manuals and 24-ranks. The original configuration of the organ was assembled by the installer (J A Hebert) from a variety of sources in order to save money. The pipework and Pitman chests were by the highly respected Canadian builder Casavant Freres, their Opus 2821 of 1965. The console was by Organ Supply of Philadelphia, and the blower was salvaged from an unknown organ being dismantled. The Swell, Great and Pedal divisions were installed, with preparations in the console for a Positiv division. The 1st modification to the organ consisted of the addition of the Pedal II Mixture, 16' Posaune and 8' Trompette by Hebert in 1974 using pipework furnished by Casavant. The 2nd modification included an extension of the 16’ Pedal Principal, and upgrades to the console including new magnetic contacts and a SSL capture action by Jerroll Adams and Richard Houghten. The 3rd modification was a considerable expansion of the instrument by Adams and Houghten, with the installation of the Choir / Positiv in the West gallery. The pipe work is from several European makers, and the chests are electric slider style by Adams. Modification of the console included additional stop tabs, and converting the crescendo pedal to control the choir expression shades. The 4th renovation consisted of a new Laukhauf high speed blower, controlled by a variable frequency drive, within the Center gallery by Adams and Houghten. In 2010 all pipes were removed, cleaned, reinstalled, tuned and revoiced as needed. The original Mayland chimes were removed. -Doug Scott
