Notes

2023-09-20 - From *Sun* paper, May 8 1866: Article announces opening of new building for the newly created Immanuel Evangelical Church (German). This was one of three new Missouri Synod churches formed out of the friendly division of the original St. Paul's Church first on Holliday Street. Each new congregation took a different sector of the city. St. Paul's in the west, Martini in the south, Immanuel in the east. The Immanuel Building (S. Caroline St, & Lina Court (south of Baltimore St) still stands, but is unused and in poor condition. It is a sizable brick German Hall church with three sided balcony. The article gives only that new organ was built by Pomplitz and cost $2500. This organ was mentioned in 19th century articles about Pomplitz organs. In 1923 a new Moller was purchased. -Steven Bartley
