2023-10-30 - From the *Waterloo Region Record* (February 3, 1899): "The D W Karn Co. Limited of Woodstock are the builders of the new Karn-Warren organ which is now being erected in Zion Church, Evangelical Association. The appearance of the work, both internal and external, fully sustains the high reputation which the instruments of this well known company have gained for them. The principle upon which it is constructed is what is called Tubular Pneumatic, that is to say, instead of the ordinary connections from valves to the keys, small lead tubes take their places and wind is made to do the duty which the pressure of the finger supplies in ordinary organs. This system permits the placing of the keyboards in any desired position and admits of the use of many coupling movements which would be out of question with a mechanical action. The case which is of quarter cut oak and highly finished, extends across the full width of the Choir Gallery and the keyboard is placed so that the choir a located between the player and the organ. The front pipes are handsomely decorated in terra cotta, corn color, crimson and gold and present a very pleasing appearance." -Andrew Henderson
