2024-03-06 - Known from "HISTORY OF THE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH OF WAPPINGERS", website accessed 2024-03-06. "In 1869, the Ladies Aid Society was formed. They raised $940.00 for the building fund. In 1871, the first Sunday School was started. William Benjamin was the first superintendent and there were 21 teachers and 117 attendees, which later increased to 155 by 1874. In 1872, a manually operated pipe organ was installed in the balcony over the front entrance at a cost of about $1,000.00...On June 12, 1892, the church was free of debt. In 1900, the organ was moved from the organ loft to the alcove behind the pulpit." -Paul R. Marchesano
