2024-03-12 - From the Buffalo Morning Express (January 13, 1868): "There has been an organ in the church nearly from the commencement. When the present organ was bought the old one was sold. The organ now in use was built in Tipperary, Ireland, by Charles H. Devine, then organist of the Episcopal church in that place. After completing the instrument he embarked with his precious freight. We have no disposition to indulge in violent denunciation of the Atlantic Ocean, yet when they were a few days out a violent storm arose and the vessel rocked fearfully in the embrace of the tempest. At about noon the next day, however, the clouds broke away and calm came over the troubled waters. It was then discovered that the trumpet stop in the shiftings of the cargo was probably demolished as it had entirely disappeared. When Mr. Devine arrived in Buffalo, in 1852, with his accustomed liberality he presented it to the church on their paying him the cost of builidng and a small compensation for his trouble in bringing it over." -Andrew Henderson
