Notes

2024-10-01 - Building burned 1929: "Shortly after the alarm had been given, twenty-two ill and convalescent nuns were removed by willing workmen under the instruction of Dr. E. Gariepy of Ahuntsic. They were placed in taxis and taken to the mother house of the order, at the corner of Atwater avenue and Macgregor street. The Convent of the Sacred Heart on the Back River at Sault aux Recollets had been struck by lightning. But though the building seemed utterly destroyed by the resulting fire, no one inside was injured. Even the four firemen who were felled by smoke inhalation quickly recovered." -- The Gazette, Monday, June 24, 1929 -Paul R. Marchesano
