2024-12-29 - This entry represents the rebuilding of an existing organ. Identified through online information Andrew Henderson (December 29, 2024): From the *Saint John Times Globe* (May 26, 1953): "At a largely attended meeting of members of St. John's (Stone) Church, the vestry was authorized to award the contract for re-conditioning the church organ to the firm of Wm. Hill & Son & Norman & Beard, Ltd., of London, Eng. The organ was originally installed in 1914, during the rectorship of the late Rev. Gustav A. Kuhring. The specifications were prepared by the late D. Arnold Fox, organist of Stone Church, and the installation was under his supervision. In an account of the opening recital on March 27, 1914, the instrument was described as 'the most up-to-date organ east of Montreal. The representative of the London firm who examined the organ recently, paid high tribute to what he called 'the artistry of the designer' who was, he said, at least 10 years ahead of his time in his ideas of how an organ should be constructed. It is estimated the repairs will take approximately 11 months to complete." -Andrew Henderson
