2025-04-09 - New Organ.—The new organ of the Spring Garden M.E. Church, Twentieth and Spring Garden streets, was opened with appropriate exercises on Thursday evening. In tone it is clear, sweet and powerful, and it is unsurpassed for completeness and finish. It contains two banks of keys for the manuals, compass CC to G in alto, or fifty-six notes. Pedal board CCC to G, twenty notes. Thirty Registers, including couplers, &c. The great organ contains eleven stops, as follows.—Open diapason, stopped diapason bass, melodia treble, dulciana, principal, twelfth, fifteenth, flageolet, flute, sharp mixture, trumpet, clarionet. The small organ contains the following stops.—Bourdon bass, bourdon treble, open diapason, violin gamba, stopped diapason bass, stopped diapason treble, principal, twelfth, fifteenth, trumpet, oboe. The pedal organ contains the open diapason and dulciana. In all there are 1168 pipes.
