2025-03-04 - From "Jamestown Evening Journal" (July 8, 1882): "The new pipe organ recently received by the Catholic Church of Jamestown from S. S .Hammel, of Boston, has been located in the loft over the vestibule in the west end of the church, opposite the altar. It is cased in black walnut and the pipes which show are handsomely decorated. It is classed as 'pedal sub bass,' with sixteen feet tone, twelve stops and three hundred pipes. Its cost was $1,000. Friday afternoon Miss Isabel Harrington tested its qualities and pronounced it an excellent instrument, sweet-toned and of power sufficient for the size of the church. It will be used at the services to-morrow, Miss Gallagher, as organist of merit, will preside at this fine instrument which is certain to add appreciably to the interest of the musical portion of the religious exercises. The society is to be congratulated on its possession." -Andrew Henderson
