Notes

2025-04-05 - This entry represents the rebuilding of an existing organ. Identified from the centennial church history, *A century of God's grace, 1859-1959, St. John's Lutheran Church, Elgin, Illinois* page 6, which states, "Although the organ has served St John's congregation for 47 years, during which time it has been used during countless services, considerable trouble has developed in its mechanism in recent years. This condition places definite restrictions on the range and combinations that are at the disposal of the organist. The voters' assembly responded to the problem early this year by voting to have the organ completely rebuilt by E. M. Semerad at a cost of $18,975. This cost will include the installation of a new two-manual Austin organ console. Work of rebuilding will begin the latter part of August, with the extensive reconstruction scheduled for completion before Christmas." -Jim Stettner
