Notes

2025-05-21 - From guidetags.com, local history website: "On October 16th, 1852, services began at St. Andrew's Church under the colourful and much-beloved Reverend R. F. Burns, D.D., an "extremely bulky...Happy-Minded Scotsman" who also held in turn the charges of Chalmers Church, Kingston; Knox Church, St. Catharines; Scottish Church, Chicago; Cote Street Church, Montreal; and Fort Massey Church, Halifax, N.S. (D. M. Sinclair, 1971). Five years after the original frame church was built, an addition of twelve feet with a spire (or steeple) was added to the church. In 1875 the church's original reed organ was replaced and a practice pipe organ was used instead." -Paul R. Marchesano
