2004-10-30 - "The 1906 building and organ were purchased from Central Presbyterian in 1930. The congregation moved to 11411 Highway 40 in St. Louis Co. c. 1946. Tenants between 1946 and 1986 not known. Building and organ sold c. 1986 to Grace and Peace Fellowship. The organ was rebuilt c. 1986 by Marlin Mackley. B'NAI BRITH and EMANU EL merged on Oct. 17, 1852 to form B'NAI EL. New building constructed at 6th and Cerre in 1855 was the first synagogue built west of the Mississippi River - an eight-sided structure with a center cupola on the roof, dubbed The Coffe Mill. In 1875 they had moved to the corner of Chouteau and Beckwith (11th ). B'Nai El later moved west to a new Temple, completed in 1906 at 3666 Flad (at Spring). The congregation moved in 1930, at Delmar and Clara. It's present [2004] temple is at 11411 Highway 40/Interstate 64 is in west St. Louis County." -Database Manager
