2009-10-21 - Updated through on-line information from John W. Tremblay. -- I worked on this organ when it was rebuilt in 1963, June through August, by Robert G. Morel of Arlington, Massachusetts. The consultant was Edward ("Ned") Gammons of Groton. The rebuilding included adding mixture work and a 16' Flute register to the Great to make the tonal specification more flexible for accompanimental and recital work. The Swell and Choir divisions were both in one expression box. I believe that the number of ranks was raised to about thirty or thirty-one. Before the rebuilding, the instrument's tone was somewhat thick and muffled. The tonal changes were subtle, but gave the finished instrument a clean, bright sound which fit the acoustics of the sanctuary quite admirably. -Database Manager
