2004-10-30/2019-04-29 - From the OHS PC Database, derived from A Guide to North American Organbuilders, by David H. Fox (Richmond, Va.: Organ Historical Society, 1991). - James Cogswell was born 1780 in Andover, Massachusetts; he was in Boston, Massachusetts, by 1809. He worked with Thomas Appleton of Boston, 1821-1840s; then with E. & G. G. Hook of Boston. He was in Rhode Island by 1850. James Cogswell died 1862 in North Providence, Rhode Island.
