For decades he was engaged as Expert Organier to the City of Paris, advising and approving projects for all Parisian church organs except for Notre Dame Cathedral. In 1981 Coignet became tonal director of Casavant, commuting from France to Canada about ten weeks a year."1 "Coignet worked in scientific research while at the same time learning organbuilding until 1980.
