2016-03-08/2019-02-11 - From the OHS PC Database Builders Listing editor. - Johann Philip Bachman was born 22 April 1762 in Kreuzberg, Thuringia, Germany. He was the father of Ernst J. Bachman. He apprenticed with David Tannenberg> of Lititz, Pennsylvania, February 17, 1793; and married Tannenberg's daughter in 1793. After Tanneberg's passing, Bachman had his own firm from 1800 until 1821, thereafter business declined and he shifted to piano and cabinetwork. He died November 15, 1837. His son, Ernest, also trained in the Tanneberg shop and worked with his father, but left in 1827 to teach School in Lebanon, Pennsylvania.
