Fox (Richmond, Va.: Organ Historical Society, 1991). - Charles Bowen was born in 1859 in Birmingham, England; he apprenticed with the Hill firm of England. He immigrated to the United States in 1887; and began work with Cole & Woodberry of Boston, Massachusetts, where he remained until 1898.
