2005-07-18 - Identified through online information from James R. Stettner. -- The organ upon which this instrument is based is the 1920 Estey, opus 1828, originally built for the Seattle residence of John Frederick Duthie. This organ was acquired by B&V and divided into two organs - one for Greenwood Presbyterian in Seattle, and this one for Our Saviour's Lutheran in Bremerton. The installation consisted of seven manual Estey ranks duplexed to both the Great and the Swell, an independent Pedal 16' Bourdon, and chimes. All were on their original chests. The B&V opus list gives the size as 5 ranks, but this seems unlikely since the original 8 ranks and chests were present. In 1958, B&V supposedly enlarged the organ to 12 ranks, according to the Master Opus List. A new console was provided at that time with new Kimball stoptablets. This was done as their opus 661. At an undocumented time, organ technician Richard Warburton added an electro-mechanical chest and a unit rank of 4' Octave pipes playing at 4' - 2-2/3' - 2' - 1-3/5' - and 1-1/3' pitches on the Great only. If the organ had been enlarged to 12 ranks by B&V in 1958, then this work was undone by Warburton, since the organ was last 9 registers, 22 speakings tops, 9 ranks, and 539 pipes before its replacement with a new S.R. Cook organ in 200?. -Database Manager
