NOTES
The contract for the 1953-54 major tonal revision was signed on October 15, 1953,
and the organ was to be ready for use on or before July 15, 1954. The cost of the
project was $43,500.00. The original 1911 chests from opus 319 were retained and
refurbished. Other new chests were built according to the need of the enlarged
specification. All extant pipework to be retained in the tonal revision was cleaned
and revoiced. All unused pipework and equipment became the property of the builder.

The Great division was made entirely of new pipework.

The Swell retained 6 existing registers, but the principal chorus, string and
celeste, and reed ensemble (minus Vox Humana) were new.

The Choir unison foundations were original, but all upper work of 4' pitch and
higher were new. The reed voice was existing.

The Solo was entirely new except for the 8' Orchestral Oboe.

The Antiphonal (former Echo) was almost entirely new except for the 8' and 4'
flutes and the 8' English Horn (formerly called Cor Anglais). The 8' Open Diapason,
4' Principal, and III Mixture are unenclosed.

The Pedal retained all of its original registers. It was augmented by borrowing
other stops from the manual compartmentsand by the addition of a new 8' Octave, 4'
Super Octave, III Mixture principal chorus. The 32' Contra Bourdon is a 7-pipe bass
extension of the original 16' Bourdon. It was made from reconstructed, recycled
pipes. The first 5 notes are resultant.
