NOTES
The original pipe organ was built by the Hinners Organ Co. of Pekin, IL. for an undocumented
church on the Alberta, Canada, plains. It was a tracker-action instrument of 7 ranks: Great 8'
Open Diapason, 8' Melodia, and 8' Dulciana; Swell 8' Stopped Diapason, 8' Salicional, and 4'
Harmonic Flute; and Pedal 16' Bourdon. The organ was installed used ca. 1912, and was placed
across the front of the chancel and recessed into an alcove. The installation was completed
by three men from First Christian Reformed Church. The case was of quarter-sawn oak, and the
façade contained 57 pipes in a seven-sectional display arranged: 15-3-8-5-8-3-15, which
includes the first 27 pipes of the Great 8' Open Diapason. The keydesk was attached and
projecting.

In 1958, the organ was rebuilt, electrified, and enlarged by Balcom and Vaughan of Seattle.
The Swell 4' Harmonic Flute was omitted from the Swell, and an 8' Salicional, 8' Voix Celeste,
and 8' Oboe Horn were added. A 4' Octave was added to the Great, but it is unclear whether
this was new pipework, or a reworking of the original Swell 4' Harmonic Flute. The Swell 8'
Voix Celeste was also borrowed to the Great to celeste with the 8' Dulciana. The Pedal 16'
Bourdon was an extension of the Swell 8' Stopped Flute, and was probably the original,
independent Hinners Bourdon pipes. The 16' Pedal Gedeckt was the same as the 16' Bourdon,
but with pipes 1-12 on "soft wind". The Pedal 8' Flute was a borrow of the Swell 8' Stopped
Flute. A new B & V console with Klann couplers and combination action controlled the instrument
which was placed behind the original façade. The chimes were prepared for, and were added later.
The tremolo and regulators were also new.
