It was a free-standing organ with the first 17 pipes of the Great 8' Open Diapason in the façade along with the bottom octave of the Swell 8' Violin Diapason, and the first 5 pipes of the Great 4' Principal. The present Great 4' Flute was originally in the Swell. The drawknobs would have been in terraced stopjambs on either side of the manuals. The couplers would have been drawknobs placed over the Swell keys in the nameboard. The Balcom and Vaughan work consisted of providing new unit windchests for the entire organ. The Swell 8' Stopped Flute was extended by 24 pipes in the treble. The original independent Pedal 16' Bourdon has only 27 pipes, so it borrows its top 5 notes from the Swell 8' Stopped Flute. The Pedal 16' Gedeckt borrows its first 12 notes from the 16' Bourdon on "soft wind", and the balance from the Swell 8' Stopped Flute. A new console with combination action was provided, and the rebuilt organ was placed in divided chambers. The Swell 8' Voix Celeste is the original 8' Oboe Gamba. The 8' Trumpet was added new at the time of the rebuild and electrification. Sources: Church archives; Balcom and Vaughan opus list and files; extant organ [Received from James R.
