Notes

2007-03-14 - Identified through online information from James R. Stettner. -- The organ was free-standing and encased in the front, right corner of the room. The keydesk was attached and projecting. The facade had 15 pipes along the left side; a short diagonal flat of 5 pipes at each front corner; and a front flat of 25 pipes. The organ was dedicated on June 21, 1918. Some discrepancies exist as to the exact stoplist for the organ. William Bunch's spec states that the organ has 12 ranks and 682 pipes. The dedicatory program cover says the organ has "25 stop keys, 797 pipes, 4 Combination Pistons, and 3 Pedal Movements." It is also not known if the Swell 8' Vox Celeste II was actually II ranks, or if it was one rank - also drawing either the 8' Muted Viol or 8' Orchestral Violin with it. Also uncertain is whether the Pedal 16' Lieblich Gedeckt was a complete independent rank, an extension of the Swell 8' Stopped Flute, or the Pedal 16' Bourdon on "soft wind." -Database Manager

NOTES
The organ was dedicated on June 21, 1918. It was free-standing and
encased in the front, right corner of the room. The keydesk was attached
and projecting. And the facade had 15 pipes along the left side; a short
diagonal flat of 5 pipes at each front corner; and a front flat of 25
pipes.

The preceding specification was assembled from a variety of sources:

1) Examination of photos of the organ in the church archives.
2) Existing pipework in the home organ of Portland Resident, Lou Paff.
3) A specification provided by William J. Bunch of Balcom and Vaughan
Pipe Organs of Seattle, WA; and
4) Comparison with documented examples of organs from the same period
      by this builder.

Some discrepancies, however, still exist. William Bunch's spec states
that the organ has 12 ranks and 682 pipes. The dedicatory program cover
says the organ has "25 stop keys, 797 pipes, 4 Combination Pistons, and
3 Pedal Movements." It is also not known if the Swell 8' Vox Celeste II
was actually II ranks, or if it was one rank - also drawing either the 8'
Muted Viol or 8' Orchestral Violin with it. Also uncertain is whether the
Pedal 16' Lieblich Gedeckt was a complete independent rank, an extension
of the Swell 8' Stopped Flute, or the Pedal 16' Bourdon on "soft wind."
