2007-06-13 - Identified through online information from James R. Stettner. -- Bethany was a Swedish Lutheran congregation. This was a used tracker organ. The original builder has not yet been identified, nor is it known who installed it second-hand. Extant pictures in the church archives show a three-sectional facade of 17 gold pipes arranged 5-7-5 in a Gothic-arched alcove to the left of center at the front. Another picture of Prof. Josef Svenson at the console shows further details. The organ was placed for sale in a Lutheran publication called "Augustana." It was purchased by Bethany with subscriptions of $50, $25, $10, and $5. Sources: church archives and extant photos. -Database Manager
