2007-11-17 - Identified through online information from James R. Stettner. -- This was the reinstallation of a used 2/5 Wurlitzer Style 150 from Tacoma, Washington's Liberty (Riviera) Theatre. It was installed in October, 1950 at a cost of $1,500.00. -Database Manager

2015-10-13 - Updated through online information from Eric Schmiedeberg. -- This is the first Wurlitzer (and first pipe organ) I ever worked on. That was back in 1979-80 when I was but 12 years of age. Russ was a close personal and family friend. He and I were working on the instrument to resurrect it as it had fallen into disuse.

He died in 1981 at the age of 51 of a heart attack and the work was never completed. I did get a chance to play the organ after it had been installed in an unenclosed fashion in the late Dale Haskin's warehouse on 82nd Ave. SE in Portland, OR.

While at the Croisan Creek Rd. location it was enjoyed by organ enthusiasts for picnics and other gatherings. Russ's next door neighbor was one of the Salem Elsinore Theatre's original organists Mary Barton who played the organ frequently.

The organ spoke into a small room where the console was located. The best place to listen to the instrument was out on the lawn outside, according to Russ! The organ was originally moved from the Liberty (Riviera) Theatre in Tacoma, WA to Russ's parents' home on 14th St. NE in Salem by B&V. It was installed in the basement there and was broadcast over KOCO radio in the early 50's with Russ at the console. -Database Manager

*In Wurlitzer theatre organs of 4 to 5 ranks, the "Trumpet" is actually a Tuba Horn on 10" wind. This is how the resonators of these pipes are stamped: TU H
