Notes

2015-11-29 - Altered and relocated existing organ. Identified by Eric Schmiedeberg, based on personal knowledge of the organ.

I saw and played this instrument in 1987. Dale installed it sans swell shutters in one of his pole barn warehouses. The instrument was not in a climate-controlled area and suffered for it as the years wore on. Dale got a lot a joy from this organ and loved to play it for himself and visitors to his organ warehouses.

I had never played an unenclosed theatre pipe organ before and found the organ almost impossible to play. It seemed like it literally attacked me as I tried to coax some theatrical sounds out of it. It was definitely Dale's baby and more of a skating rink type of instrument when it was at the warehouse.

Dale and I got to be pretty good friends in the latter years of his life. I didn't know him when I played the organ, but I told him about my connection with it in the years prior to his acquiring it. He thought it was great that that connection was there and was interested to know what I knew about the instrument in its Salem, Oregon phase of life from 1950 to 1981. Dale added a separate winding system and tremulant for the Tibia Clausa rank. -Database Manager
